Finley Community Park Spray Ground
Santa Rosa, CA
As prime consultant and landscape architect, Gates Studio reimagined an underutilized area of the aquatic center at Finley Community Park into a vibrant, inclusive spray ground that expands recreational offerings in Santa Rosa. The $5.3M project introduces 15 interactive water elements, shaded seating, and tropical-inspired planting into an amenity for all ages and abilities. Gates Studio led a multidisciplinary team through site assessment, code compliance, and implementation of sustainable infrastructure—including an underground recirculation system and prefabricated pump building—ensuring long-term efficiency and ease of maintenance. New picnic areas, shaded lawns, and flexible gathering zones extend the park’s role as a community hub for play, comfort, and connection.
This project was completed in 2025.

Colorful palm tree sprayers and a border of lush, drought-tolerant plants add to the tropical vibe.
Interactive, ADA-suitable elements make the spray ground more accessible and inclusive.
As a creative use of space and to complement the theme, the wall of the pump room is covered with a mosaic waterfall pattern.
