Danville Hotel

Danville, CA

Blending Historic Character with a Vibrant Mixed-Use Destination

A 1.12-acre site in the heart of downtown Danville was redeveloped to honor the site’s history while introducing new vitality to the town center. The plan preserved and restored two historic landmarks—the Danville Hotel and McCauley House on Hartz Avenue—while integrating new retail, dining, office, and residential uses.

Gates Studio designed a cohesive public realm that weaves through the site, including welcoming paseos, a second-floor courtyard, and a signature arched gateway. At the busy corner of Railroad and Prospect Avenues, restaurant patios activate the street, while biofiltration planters and thoughtfully detailed streetscapes support both environmental function and pedestrian experience.

This project was completed in 2013.
