Butterfly Knoll
Dublin, CA
Located in the Tassajara Hills community of Dublin, California, Butterfly Knoll is a 1.08-acre neighborhood park that celebrates the beauty and ecology of pollinators. The design offers a unique playground inspired by the colors of the Pipevine Swallowtail butterfly, a bird wing–inspired shade structure, picnic areas, fitness stations, a butterfly garden, and a small amphitheater, all set against sweeping views of Tassajara Creek and the surrounding hills. A grand entry staircase features a community-created butterfly mural led by artist Joey Rose.
Gates Studio provided full landscape design consultation from concept through construction, including the schematic master plan, community outreach, public art coordination, detailed design, bidding assistance, and construction administration, ensuring the park’s nature-inspired vision came to life.
This project was completed in 2021.
